No Restrictions on Island Airport Overflights

Hello Richard,

Here is your quote - "These aircraft are flying way outside of their restricted flight paths over Lake Ontario and more than 6 kilometres from the island airport with their bomb bay doors open and landing wheels down."

Please confirm "WHAT" restricted flight path you are referring to and where it is published?

For the record, as an Air Traffic Controller of almost 20 years, I am not aware of ANY restriction affecting the airspace on the approach to runway 08 (South Etobicoke)

An aircraft maneuvering to land does NOT have to adhere to any minimum altitudes (since they are trying to land).

If you are asking the pilots to turn in closer to the airport so that they do not cross the shoreline then you are asking them to potentially fly a shorter and more unsafe approach to land - then the people near the airport will complain that Porter is unsafe.

The final approach is a critical phase of the flight where the aircraft gets configured to land safely. At all airports around the world, flight safety has and always will trump any noise concerns.

Take Care!
Joe
