Questions for the candidates

Subject: Toronto Island Airport and my vote

Dear Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Nash,

I am one of the undecided voters in Parkdale-High Park. I consider you both strong candidates; in an ideal world I would be happy to have you both represent the ward! At the same time, I have reservations about both parties and leaders.

As someone who deeply loves Toronto's waterfront, my final decision may hinge on the sad, ongoing struggle to stop commercial air traffic at the Toronto Island Airport (and ideally, shut down this Airport Within a Park). The Liberals allowed this whole mess to happen by creating the totally unnecessary Toronto Port Authority.

My question to both of you is: would your party, if it held governing power, shut down this airport, or at least the commercial flight activity that is ruining the lives of Toronto residents, and despoiling the waterfront through noise and air pollution? If you were in the opposition, would work tirelessly towards this goal?

I urge you to glance over the sampling of noise complaints from desperate Torontonians, some as far away as Royal York and Lakeshore Blvd. or Leaside, contained in CommunityAir's recent press release.

A Parkdale resident
