"I'm sick of people telling me I can just move."

Joe -

I'm sick of people telling me I can just move. It's an inappropriate solution. It suggests that someone else instead of me should be at risk for toxic damage to their health by living this close to an ever expanding airport.

I agree with Brenda that many people in this neighbourhood appreciate the work of Community Air and Brian Iler on our behalf. They argue tirelessly and we benefit from their energy. I think if the silent majority were actually accessed they would stand against airport expansion, but most are too busy eking out their livelihoods to become involved in this important discussion.

While it's true that the airport has been here longer than the 25 years I have lived here, I can also vouch that its recent expansion has significantly increased the air and noise pollution over the past 5 years. It has also become increasingly apparent to the whole world that air travel has a significant negative impact on the environment.

So please don't patronize us. We know that we now live in a fairly toxic environment because of the airport and that there is proof that this will shorten our life span. This seems trivial to you compared to your BIG picture of the waterfront.

I think your BIG picture is out of focus and has lost any sense of humanity.

Sincerely,
Rebecca
