TPA: Don't exclude CommunityAir from consultation process
A Waterfront Citizen wrote - "To show good faith in forming the committee, the TPA must add Community Air to it, the people we count on to protect our interests and speak for us."
Agreed!
Any standing advisory committee MUST include the largest organized community group on this issue.
Perhaps Suzanna Birchwood, the new public affairs director the TPA can shed some light on this development for everyone. I am an airport supporter and I have my disagreements with CAIR, BUT, I cannot come up with any reasonable explanation for excluding them from the consultation process.
On another matter, Mr. Freeman has recently reacted to the realization that another carrier is about to start using the Island airport (soon a third will join them). Just a reminder that CAIR is on record insisting that the airport be opened to competition (obviously to hurt Porter and no other reason). I warned back then (look it up) - be careful what you wish for.
Well, your wish has been granted. You cannot have it both ways - complain about a lack of competition - then - complain when it arrives. The airport has approximately 200 takeoff and landing slots to be distributed - this HAS NOT CHANGED and this allows whatever carriers that HAVE slots to operate at the facility.
Focus on CAIR becoming a part of the TPA standing advisory committee. In my opinion, this is your best, and only, useful course of action - and what I have been recommending from the first time I blogged here almost 2 years ago!
Take Care!
Joe
