I too live on QQ, right across from the airport runway. I can definitely hear planes, especially during take-off. I can hear them with the windows closed. In the nice weather, I have to close the windows to have a phone conversation or to hear the tv or radio. When I moved here, Porter hadn't started up yet and while there was an airport, the noise level was nothing like it is now.
