Do the Math. The result of the increase in
the number of planes operating out of the Island Airport will be devastating for
Waterfront visitors and residents.
Porter now has twenty Q400 aircraft and
the company has announced that they are going to buy another five planes.
Air Canada claims they are buying five Q400 that
will operate out of the Island. Do the
math:
Porter now flies...................20
planes
Porter has bought ............... 5 more
planes
Air Canada will bring ........... 5
more
TOTAL ..............................30
planes
That, if you are good at math, is a fifty percent
increase in the number of planes operating out of the Island Airport. Put
another way it is...
50% more noise
50% more air pollution
50% more taxis
50% more vehicle traffic
And a 200% increase in the problems related to this
airport. We predicted it was going to happen and now welcome to the
future. What happened to the promise of a "CLEAN, GREEN
WATERFRONT"?
