Comments on "Airport lands should be for recreation"
This is an excellent, well-thought out argument. Now we need some of our politicians to heed this.

With Polluter Airlines days now numbered in months we may be finally realizing a time when the waterfront scourge known as the Island Airport will be a bad memory.
Now is the time to inspire Torontonians with a vision of a waterfront open to all to be enjoyed by all it’s citizens, not just the wealthy federal fat-cats and Bay St. stock market executives.
Community Air should host a design competition that asks: “Once the Airport is gone what should we do with the Airport Lands?” This could coincide with the mayoral race. We can advertise the competition in the Star.
Let’s see what creativity and vision inspires the Toronto Community. Let’s not allow ourselves as opponents of pollution and elitism to be perceived as just NIMBY’s but let’s be visionaries and community builders.
Once the winning design is chosen (parks, museums, playgrounds, sports centres, cultural development sites, artist communities, farmers markets, community gardens, concert venues, children’s day camps, all of the aforementioned?) we ask our fellow citizens of Toronto 4 simple questions:
Which would you use more?
Which would you value more?
Which would enhance Toronto more to residents and visitors alike?
And Who/What stands in the way of returning our waterfront back to us, the people of Toronto?
Let’s inspire Toronto to think big, think green, think beautiful. We deserve the very best.
