Actually, the houses were there before the airport

Just for the record, full-time residents on Toronto Isand date from 1862. It is one of Toronto's oldest neighbourhoods.

In 1936, West Island Dr., on Hanlan's Point was plowed up to make way for the airport. Houses were barged to what is now Algonquin Island. It is the airport that has imposed itself upon a Toronto residential area. That is why it doesn't fit and must be closed down.
