Half-full planes are not environmentally friendly

There is a point that is being missed in this discussion.

The claims that the Q400 is a more fuel efficient, and thus a more environmentally friendly aircraft, are based on a full passenger payload. But that is not the case here. It appears, based on the prospectus, that Porter's flights are half full, at best. Consequenly, any assessment of fuel efficiency or total environmental impact must take this into account because a plane designed to transport 75 people is being used to transport 35 people. That is not fuel efficient or environmentally friendly.
