Fight the flights twins with Community Air

We have been keeping an eye on the developments at Toronto Island airport, sadly they seem to continue to mirror circumstances here at London City Airport in the docklands. We were disappointed that the TPA approved to expand the airport, it is frustrating for us to read due to the similarity of the situation here.

Things have been moving along very quickly for us over the past 8 months, we are legally challenging the planning authority who approved a 50% flight expansion at London City Airport at the high court, and more London politicians are moving towards questioning the expansion and supporting our campaign. In some ways circumstances have become much more positive.

We have been considering how perhaps we could use the similarities between the airports and location to benefit the campaigns. Our group came up with a suggestion of a twinning of campaigns. I'm not sure if they operate twinning processes in Canada: in the UK, towns/villages all around the country often choose to twin with another town/village all over the world that they share a history or common interest with. Little more is involved than making the connection and telling the story.

The group therefore have asked me to approach you to see if CommunityAir might be interested in twinning with Fight the Flights to bring the two airport campaigns together and perhaps gaining some publicity for both on each side of the atlantic.

If you were interested this would involve a press release on each side of the atlantic by each of our groups on the chosen day, in which similarities between the island airport at City Airport could be compared, along with the associated impacts such as on health and air quality etc. We think that the press on both sides may be very interested in this, as we believe it  would be the first twinning of it's type across an ocean and it gives an interesting angle and perspective.
