Make the Island Airport a Municipal Election Issue

This issue does not affect only island residents, or Queen's Quay residents.
Harbourfront and the islands are treasures for all Torontonians and visitors to the city alike. My own favourite haunts are the Humber Bay Park East, Samuel Smith Park or Ashbridges Bay, but not everyone has the ability to venture this far East or West, especially by public transit.
I was not able to make it to the meeting, alas, but reading about its format and the (not surprising) attitude of TPA, I'm almost glad I couldn't go. How frustrating this must have been!
David Miller was first elected, in large part, because he promised to kill the airport bridge.
Any mayoral candidate who makes it known that he or she is opposed to the expansion of the island airport, or better, in favour of returning all the islands to green space, will have my vote (and financial support) in a nanosecond (barring other outrageous positions).
This should be made into a municipal election issue again. I'm afraid too few people are aware of what is at stake, and when the time comes, some sunny day, when the disturbance is too much, it will be too late.
