Comment on "How low will they go?"

Mr. Lipton,

Just to clarify your comment about the P180. Since it was landing, the flight path was an "approach" and NOT an "overflight". In the eyes of regulators and pilots there is a huge difference.

I'm NOT justifying the pilots actions and without any radar data the altitude or route (Noise sensitive areas) cannot be confirmed. I'm only reminding you that on an approach to land, there is NO minimum altitude restriction. If the pilot can see the runway and everything between them and the runway, then the expectation is that they won't knowingly fly into a tree, home or boat mast.

This issue is further exacerbated by the fact that the P180 is particularly fast and noisy. Most other aircraft flying a similar profile would not cause as much grief as the P180 does.
