Money to Burn

On January 20, 2010, the new Toronto Port Authority (TPA) CEO wrote a response to Brian Iler about the TPA’s $660,000 expenditure for a noise barrier.  The $660,000 expenditure was initially announced in a TPA press release dated January 7, 2010.

In a news released dated today, January 28, the TPA included the following: “investing $900,000 in sound barriers to protect nearby residents from excessive noise caused by engine maintenance taking place at BBTCA.”

A noise barrier that cost $660,000 eight days ago now costs $900,000, an increase of almost a quarter million dollars.
