Noise is the real problem
While engine run-ups are a severe problem, they are only a small part of the noise issue. There is a constant roar coming from the airport from engines powering up to get ready for take-off and from back thrusting when landing. By creating a barrier, the airport is only creating an excuse to have more run-ups. The noise doesn't only travel outwards, it also travels upwards. There is no absolute way to contain and minimise it. Furthermore the toxins spewed from engine run-ups are enormous. They should not occur so close to two public schools and a daycare.
