Two articles on Transport Canada’s Safety Management System

The Globe and Mail is reporting on evidence at the Commons Transportation Committee hearings on Transports Canada’s Safety Management System that allows airline operators to manage their own safety systems. Transport Canada inspectors are relegated to monitoring the airlines’ paperwork.

The first story has an account of a plane taking off with ice on its wings, and pictures of masking tape holding up wiring, a hot-wired instrument panel and wing bolts that "anyone could buy at Canadian Tire."
