Dear Mayor Miller: The TPA is a bully agency
Dear Mayor Miller,
Early in your first term as mayor, you led a tour of Bathurst Quay. You climbed onto a tree box at the foot of what is now Ireland Park. With your back to the Toronto harbour and about 30 of us gathered around you, you spoke eloquently of your vision of a renewed waterfront for the people of Toronto. Your vision included parks and had no room for a fixed link to the island airport, which you saw as only “a sleepy little airport”.
Now the settlement you are poised to sign with the TPA gives that bully of an agency the money to ram down the throats of Torontonians its endless expansions of the airport, whose noise, pollution, and congestion are ruining the waterfront for everyone else.
Please do not sign that settlement until the TPA agrees to stop its violations of the Tripartite Agreement and solve the problems the airport is increasingly causing for other waterfront users. Community Air has sent you a list of the major problems.
