Dear Mayor Miller and Councillor Vaughan
Mr. Miller and Mr. Vaughan,
I am very disappointed to learn that the City of Toronto has not include the community input in the agreement the City is about to settle with the Toronto Port of Authority TPA.
As a resident at the Bathurst Quay, my 8 year old son, my husband and I have been greatly affected by the Toronto City/Island Airport and even more so since the expansion of the Airport. We are surrounded by noise produced by the planes including take off, landing, taxiing, engine run ups, the noise from the cannon fire to scare the wildlife, the noise from the Porter bus rushing south on Bathurst Quay. We are surrounded by the air pollutants generated by the planes, the service vehnicles and more than 50 taxi at the taxi queue at any moment throughout the day. We are endangered by the traffic related to the Airport. Cars and taxi speeding through the intersection, violates parking bylaws and the increased traffic has turnt the Eireann Quay/Queens Quay a dangerous zone for pesdestrians, especially children including my son that attend the Waterfront School.
We can no longer leave our windows open. My son and his friends cannot hear themselves when they play in the park. Concerts at the Music Garden and Harbourfront Centre are being interrupted by the noise. We feel unsafe with the increased traffic and increased volume of strangers bypassing our neighbourhood. TPA has not been respecting and fulfilling the tripartite agreement. It has not responded to our concerns regarding noise and curfew violations.
We are very concerned and felt ignored. We urge that City of Toronto to include our voice in the process of settling with the TPA.
We trust that you can help us. Thank you!
Regards,
Wing Ki Wo
