More on subsidies

An important point to note. The loan guarantee to Porter is not a subsidy of the airport. The government makes loan guarantees to a number of firms to support the purchase of Canadian products (such as the aircraft). The government does this to promote jobs. Additionally, the upgrading of the fire station would improve safety at the airport and I am assuming upgrading existing facilities. A number of people have expressed a concern about safety, here is a way to improve it. (yeah, I know, get rid of the airport and then we would not have to deal with safety at the airport.)

Final point, a car got hit by a train today in downtown Toronto. Does that mean that trains are too dangerous and we should take them off our city streets? What if it was a school bus full of children? (please note sarcasm)
