Noise at the Airport
Many people think it is not noisy around the Island Airport. Some say they do not hear the planes. Some argue that it is only take-offs and landing that make the most noise & each takes less than 1 minute.
You do the math. Porter flies 120-130 flights a day and that is more than 2 hours of noise that is produced. Some flights come and go one right after another.
The noise is not just one minute. The planes run their engine for a long time before they take off, and do not shut off right after they land.
The planes also do maintenance power run-ups when they run their engines at their full power, creating this huge noise you can FEEL, not just hear. They run it day and night and even after midnight.
There are other smaller planes & helicopters that use the Airport. They are also very noisy.
If you still do not hear any noise, you must be deaf.
