Airports and parking lots

Hi Mr. Freeman,

There were a few blog entries about parking lot expansion and the possible use of the land where the old malting plant is. I don't think my question was much of a stretch but thanks for clarifying the issue in such a friendly manner for me.

For the record, Nowhere on this blog have I stated that the island is the "perfect" place for an airport. Those would be your words - not mine.

The airport is where it is because of decisions made in the 1930s. I'm hardly responsible for that or for the existence of Porter, or their curfew breaches.

If I had my way and lot's of money, I would reclaim some land about 3 km south of the present airport and build an airport there with a 7000 foot long runway to accommodate regional jets. The airport would be far enough from the city to alleviate noise and pollution concerns BUT still be a viable and convenient alternative to Pearson. THAT would be the perfect place.
