All information I have regarding the overrun says the aircraft's nose wheel collapsed but that it did not go in the water. Overruns have occurred at airports with much larger runways. Like any mode of transportation there will, unfortunately, be accidents. I would say it's a pretty safe guess that far more people are killed on the roads around your community and far more pollution is created by vehicles on those roads than the planes connected with the airport.

You Community Air folks are the biggest bunch of whining tree huggers that I have ever seen. Do you honestly think that people are stupid enough to believe that you are interested in the safety of air traffic??? All you care about is your personal vendetta to get rid of the island airport and turn in to a nice little park for all the flower children who are squatting on the island. Hang your head in shame, you arrogant, selfish brats!
