A small airplane slid off the runway while landing at the City Centre Airport Friday evening.
The plane, which was carrying five passengers and a pilot, tried to land shortly before 10 p.m. It was unable to stop before the end of the runway and hydroplaned off the edge, said Toronto police. No one was hurt.

The runway was shut down for part of the evening, and several flights were delayed.

Georgetown resident Debra Welford had a ticket to fly on Porter Airlines to New Jersey Friday at 8 p.m. At 9:30, she was still waiting in the terminal. "The flight kept getting delayed. They said there was nothing landing or taking off."
Porter staff began offering delayed passengers later flights, an overnight stay at the Fairmont Royal York, or a complete refund, Welford said. "By the time I got in line to get a refund, other people were leaving, too," Welford said.

Flights had resumed before 11 p.m., said airport security. All planes scheduled to arrive Friday night have landed.
It's not clear exactly what caused the mishap, but the runway was believed to be slippery at the time.
It's not known who owned the plane or where it was coming from, but airport security said it did not appear to belong to Porter Airlines, the primary carrier that uses the island airport.
