Toronto Port Authority response to CAIR press release
· In response to the statement that no business case for the tunnel was ever made public or even presented to the TPA Board, this is patently false. The TPA Board of Directors has received a comprehensive package of information regarding the project. This package included a “business case” with all relevant sensitivity analysis.
· In response to the statement that the proposed tunnel’s cost was “wildly underestimated – according to the TPA’s own consultants”, and that it “would have cost two or three times the suggested $38 million” - this is also untrue. The TPA received estimates from a reputable construction company and design specialists that the proposed pedestrian tunnel could be built for $38 million dollars, including a 15% contingency.
