The Globe and Mail Report on Business had a story yesterday that Bombardier had won a $4 billion deal to supply 80 superfast trains to China.  You can find the article at this address.

The company will sell the Bombardier's sleek Zefiro high speed train that is capable of speeds of up to 380 km/hr.

China is spending tens of billions to expand its rail infrastructure and rolling stock.  It is "by far the biggest builder of high-speed rail and rail infrastructure in the world."

Europe, Japan and now China are speeding ahead with fast rail.  Even the Americans under Barack Obama's leadership is investing in fast rail.  Meanwhile Canada does nothing.  The Liberals have said that they will build a fast train along the Windsor, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City corridor, and from Calgary to Edmonton, but the Conservatives say nothing.
