Joe replies to Joanna

Hi Joanna,

I'm always very amused by your postings because they are unfortunately sarcastic, accusatory or just rude.

I've asked Mr. Freeman to remove your posting due to the accusations that were made. Failing removal, I would at least deserve a chance to respond.

1) Can you please point out at which point since February I have agreed to closing the airport?
I have said all along that - since the airport isn't going to close - what is plan B? In my opinion, Plan B is to make the best out of a difficult situation like most reasonable people do.

2) Do you read the entire posting or just the headline? Yes, I support Jets for very logical reasons. I thought reducing noise and pollution were priorities for the downtown - I obviously misunderstood.

3) You got me, I am Deluce's 3rd nephew-in-law twice removed. Actually, I have no affiliation of any kind to him, Porter or the TPA. I can't believe I even answered that question for you.
I've been up front from day 1 about who I am and what I support. If you haven't taken the time to carefully read everything I have posted and are now confused - then you are responsible for that.

4) I am on your side to the extent that I want you to have perspective about the things you do not understand or approve of. There are 2 sides to every story and you are only fed a steady dose of very biased information from CAIR. If you are interested in making an informed decision, you need to have both sides presented from credible sources.

5) I keep reading about "most" people wanting the airport closed. I have yet to see a definitive survey or poll supporting that idea. I think MANY people on the waterfront may be opposed but the city extends all the way to Steeles Avenue etc... MANY people who live in the waterfront condos claim they can't hear the Porter flights and use the service regularly (according to the Toronto Star BLOG). If you are using the idea that a vote for David Miller was a vote against the airport then that logic is flawed. He only received about 40% of the vote, that hardly constitutes a majority of anything.

6) I have tried, from the beginning, to reassure people about technical or operational issues at the TCCA because we can't expect the average person to comprehend all of these matters. Certainly CAIR isn't going to fill you in on the details. Who is going to do it? Joanna, unfortunately you are someone who may never be reassured because you choose not to be reassured. You would rather have reservations about anything at the TCCA to rationalize your opposition to it. The airport has legitimate issues that need to be addressed but many of the other complaints are unfounded.

If you have issues with my approach, try reading some of the very rude and unsympathetic drool on the Toronto Star blog to see how people feel about the anti-airport community. I have tried to reach out, listen and respond with honesty and credibility.
Sorry that isn't good enough for you.

Joe
