(Editor's note: The item below appeared in the minutes of the Toronto Port Authority Board for their November 2008 meeting.)

The Chair asked Management to provide a synopsis of the curfew violation at 11:20 pm on September 18th.

Mr. Lundy explained as part of ensuring that there are firefighters on duty as required the Toronto City Centre Airport calls Porter Airlines at 10:30 each night to inquire when the last aircraft is expected to come in.  On the date in question, it was reported that the aircraft would be landing at 11:20 pm.  Mr. Lundy indicated that the aircraft should be diverted.

Mr. Watson asked what reason was given for the lateness?  Mr. Lundy answered that the plane was late getting of the ground in Newark.

Mr. Lundy stated that Porter considers a diversion to be a significant business problem.  He stated that Porter ignored the Airport directive.
