Iler responds to Joe and the issue of the control tower

Joe – surely the presence of a air traffic controller must mean something? Why don’t they shut down at nine, then, or six? Or why do we have them at all?

Someone has made a decision, likely based mostly on financial considerations, that air traffic control at the Island Airport is not warranted at certain times. How does that decision get made?

IF air traffic control is deemed important for safety reasons before 11 o’clock, why is it not important after 11?

Because there is an assumption that the curfew will be enforced by the TPA?. That would solve it, certainly.

But wait! According to this extract from draft minutes of November 2008, as published on this blog earlier, Porter has ignored a direct order from the TPA.

One also must ask why the TPA is facilitating Porter’s breaches by ensuring there are firefighters on duty.
