Iler responds to the National Post
(Editor's note: This letter was written to the National Post in response to an article that took a quote from Brian Iler, originally published in the Toronto Star. The Post did not contact Brian for a quote.)
Kelly McParland misses the point with her too-brief quote from me from another paper - does she not have a phone?
Our points to the Star were two:
1. Is the sole goal profit? Isn't the increasing domination of our city's prime recreational and residential area by a noisy and stinky airport a problem for us all?
2. The Island Airport comprises 215 acres - perhaps the most valuable piece of real estate in our city. Is it really a success to generate such a meagre profit in only one of the past ten years on this publis asset? If we are going to place public land into the hands of private business, the least that the Toronto Port(er) Authority should have done is exact fair market value for its use.
