Slots and a concerned citizen
After review of some facts with Mr. Iler and Mr. Kotyk, I concur that there is a potential for large scale expansion at the TCCA. The final limiting factor that can stop this is the NEF (noise exposure) that determines how many slots will be available for commercial flights.
Also, if runways are extended, that would allow Porter to serve airports further away and expand their network significantly.
If the SLOT number goes up, there will be very little that Miller can do to stop the increase in flights. On the runway expansion side, the TRI agreement would have to be amended to allow this - Miller will not agree.
In my opinion, I think the tunnel is a stupid idea. It is a waste of money and the ferry is more than sufficient.
I've always preached about a balance of different uses on the waterfront but I am concerned that if the SLOT count gets too high, this balance may become impossible to maintain.
If the slot count changes above 114, count me in as a concerned citizen.
