The TPA Chair and a "Very Worried Mom"
(Editor's note: This is an exchange between Mark McQueen, the chair of the TPA, and a community member who has signed her blog submissions as a "Very Worried Mom." CommunityAIR is involved in efforts to mitigate the noise from the Island Airport. Although we believe the airport must close, it is in the interests of the community to try and mitigate the noise if possible.)
Here is a reply I got from Mark McQueen about my complaint on the noise. Of course I know i live near an airport but not to the extent of the heavy commerical traffic like the Pearson International Airport.
He mentioned about the several community representative. Is Community Air involved or they are just pretending?
Dear Sir/madam
The TPA is currently working with neighbourhood groups and City Councillors on a Noise Management strategy. Like any part of Toronto, urban life comes with a certain amount of ambient noise. Your building was built near a commercial airport, which lends itself to hearing aircraft noises from time to time.
We are working with several community representatives to try to mitigate the noise generated by operations at the TCCA. News of our progress will hopefully be announced later this year.
Mark McQueen
