Changes at the Toronto Port Authority?

Two ads to fill vacancies on the board of directors appeared recently on the port authority website.

See http://torontoport.com/PortAuthority/notices/Director%20ad%20class%202.pdf
and http://torontoport.com/PortAuthority/notices/Director%20ad%20class%204.pdf

Interestingly, the ads claim that the minister of transport has established a user nominating committee to identify qualified candidates.  If true, with one exception, this would mark a first.  The minister would actually be following the guidelines set out in the port’s letters patent rather than parachuting in a supporter of the party in power.

The exceptions are those candidates selected for their extensive knowledge of and experience in the airline industry like Colin Watson, a current board member, who along with Porter Airlines President & CEO Robert Deluce is also a board member of Vector Areospace.

As for the vacancies to be filled, the ads give no indication as to who might be leaving,  unless of course, the minister is creating two more new positions
