CAIR and BQNA support April 27 Demonstation
Tomorrow, April 27, Porter Airlines and the federal government will be announcing a major expansion of the Island Airport. New terminal buildings have been built and Porter Airlines will be expanding their fleet from 8 to 18 aircraft. The Toronto Press Corps will be at the Island for the announcement, along with three Conservative cabinet ministers and various other people.
CommunityAIR, along with the Bathurst Quay Neighbourhood Association have decided to call a demonstration to register our opposition to the expansion of the airport. It has been difficult to live with the 8 aircraft that Porter now operates and it will become intolerable when 18 large, Q400 planes are flying in and out on a regular basis.
We will be demonstrating from 8:00am to 9:00am at the corner of Queen's Quay and Bathurst Street. We will have leaflets explaining why we are opposed to the expansion of the airport.
Please come out and register your opposition to Island Airport expansion. This is essential if we are to make a livable neighbourhood.
Let's create a CLEAN, GREEN WATERFRONT
