What is CommunityAIR's PLAN B?

Hi Mr. Wilson,

I agree that the airport is going to get busier and clash with the waterfront environment. Just how much the "environment" can handle will certainly be put to the test.

This leads back to a point I've raised before. I don't see the airport closing anytime soon and Porter expansion is underway NOW. Barring an unforeseen miracle, I estimate that Porter will be very close to utilizing their slots at the TCCA within 18 months.

Given that the stated and "ONLY" goal of Community Air is to close the airport and have the land revert to recreational uses, what is PLAN 'B'?

I'm asking a sincere question with no intent to be smug or sarcastic.

In my opinion, I think the focus has to continue on:
1) maintaining the recently improved curfew performance,
2) minimizing engine maintenance impact (designate very specific rules & times for these events),
3)developing a noise abatement / preferential runway program for the TCCA when weather conditions allow multiple runway options.

The last idea involves studying the impact of arrivals and departures using both sides of the main runway. Perhaps one side is better than the other for MOST people. If there is a preference, then ask the TPA to insist the runway of "lesser" impact be used (That's the way It's done at Pearson).

I completely understand that NONE of these ideas will answer all of the legitimate concerns that residents have. However, they could help make the best of a very difficult situation UNTIL the prospect of airport closure becomes a possibility.

Take Care!
Joe
