Airports are "an unattractive environment"

Mr. Spragge,

The point I was making about hotels near airports was that airports make for an unattractive environment. Few people WANT to stay in an airport near an airport if they are given a choice. Sure there are hotels near Pearson - how many of these are filled with conference attendees (paid for by their employers) and those making early morning flights, those who barely see the outside of the hotel? Why would a tourist want to stay at one?

The issue of environmental equity I have to say is a bit bizarre. Why do you suggest that the solution to this problem is to bring noise and pollution to another part of the city while many parts of the city escape the inequity? How does it make it more fair to 'the children of Malton' to promote harm to people in other places? Does the fact that Porter flies out of TCCA actually mean there are fewer planes flying out of Malton, or does it just mean that there are more planes flying and more empty seats? How is that fair? Sounds pretty desperate John.

If you really care about the people in Malton, why don't you rally for improving public transit and trains that would reduce traffic, smog, pollution and noise and bring access to inter-city public transportation and equity to smaller rural communities?

The world would be a lot more environmentally equitable if we could all live in a clean environment. That means finding ways to reduce CO2 emmissions and striving for a cleaner environment. That means flying less, driving less, and consuming less.
How do you as a pilot contribute to environmental equity? How do you pay your dues John?
