An Airport in Central Park?
Bill, I think you misread John's comments. He said:
"Toronto City Centre Airport takes up at most about 2% of the city's lake frontage; except for the shipping terminals, most of the rest of the Toronto lake front, from the Rouge River to Long Branch, consists of public open space. If you add in the kilometres of park on three rivers (Rouge, Don, and Humber) Toronto has proportionately even more water-fronting parkland."
He was referring to the entire Toronto waterfront from Scarborough to Etobicoke, wheras your response was limited (unless I misread it myself) to the Toronto Island. By his stated definition of what constitutes Toronto's entire waterfront -- he's correct.
Actually, while we're on the subject of Central Park -- does New York City allow permanent residences within its confines? Not the neighbourhood, but in the park itself I don't know, myself. Anyone?
