Miller and Lastman

RE: Miller's mandate.

40% popular vote sliced whatever way you would like is still not a majority.
If you are treating the bridge cancellation mandate as a referendum then it should have failed.
In 2003, Miller had the luxury of vote splitting among the other 4 candidates - this is verified by every political analyst at both sides of the continuum.

His reelection was a debacle with NO credible opponent - the complete opposite to 2003. Had John Tory run in 2006, Mr. Miller would likely be working in a convenience store in High Park.

Mr Freeman has commented that Mayor Lastman was the worst mayor he had ever seen. Was this because of his support for the bridge? It seems unfair to discredit Mr. Lastman for ONE policy decision - almost as unfair as my attempts to discredit Mr. Miller for ONE policy decision I guess.

Lastman was very PRO-Toronto and a very passionate and motivated politician. He governed for the good of the entire city - all the way to Steeles Ave. He wasn't the perfect Mayor but please let me know when you find a perfect politician at any level.

Take Care!
Joe
