From a London "City Airport" resident

Hello

I would just like to say how very similar your city airport is to ours in London.

I point out that;

the airport promised to use props and never to bring in jets. We now have huge 4 engine jets with Embraer's new fleet set to start shortly;

they promised not to increase flights from a few thousand a year but have recently increased them to 120,000 a year with the possibility of a further 50,000;

they promised to create thousands of jobs and it has never happened. It has just been a few hundred;

the noise and pollution from the jets is constant and hundreds of thousands of local people are being driven mad.

The aviation industry is propped up by governments, subsidised by the tax payer and is perpetrating the myth that the world cannot survive without millions of more plane journeys. There are now reports from the US, Germany and Australia about the damage done to communities by the noise and pollution.

I hazard a guess that in a few generations time they will wonder why this was ever allowed to happen.
