Joe pushes back on the "balance" issue

Hi Mr. Freeman,

A while back you asked that any blog postings contain some modicum of respect given the emotional nature of the debates.

To date, you have referred to my postings as Bizarre, Feeble, Puzzling, an Insult and have accused me of not being forthright or balanced. WOW!

I have 16 years aviation experience with employers such as TRANSPORT CANADA, NAVCANADA & Air Canada.

I have enjoyed participating in these blogs because it gives me a chance to help the average lay person understand some complex aviation concepts and to help dispel some inaccurate statements about the TCCA or aviation in general.

I am a compassionate and moderate person with no vested interest in the TCCA staying open. If I have managed to offend you or anyone on this blog, then I apologize as this was never my intent. However, I have made every effort to acknowledge the downside of aviation and airports while trying to provide some meaningful justification for their existence and presented some of the benefits we all take for granted. That sounds Balanced to me.

Where is the balance in Community Air's all or nothing - close the airport at all costs - no other alternative will even be considered - approach?

Anyone that doesn't see your perspective is labeled an "airport enthusiast" in an attempt to discredit their opinions.
I engaged this blog to provide honest, straightforward answers and commentary to those people who don't know the difference between a runway and a taxiway. This is difficult for Community Air to accept since it means you do not have free reign to make unsubstantiated assertions about topics that you are not qualified to explain.

Here's an example - your website now states prominently that the Q400 crash in Buffalo is believed to be caused by de-icing problems with the aircraft. OK, where is the documentation to back this up? The investigation is ongoing and NO findings have been released. Who is the Q400 de-icing equipment expert on the Community Air Staff? - NO ONE! You are not a credible and authorized source of information on this topic and should not rush to spectacular conclusions.

Mr. Freeman, I have engaged Community Air in the hopes of presenting "the other side" of your story. Your blog has been kind enough to allow me to try and make some points against your organization's goals. As I've stated before, although I don't agree with closing the airport, I do empathize with the difficult issues that waterfront residents face and have made sincere attempts to find solutions and ideas to deal with these problems. Yet, despite the thanks I have received from some bloggers, the Community Air hierarchy is probably not as impressed as I have now been treated like a threat.

I wish you good luck in trying to improve the many issues the TCCA brings upon its neighbors. Along the way, you are going to deal with many people who do not see your point of view and who will not be as moderate or compassionate as I was. Good Luck!

Joe
