Hey Skywatcher,
Let me pick on you for a minute
Firstly, a picture of 3 people on a plane (any plane - not just Porter) is hardly scientific evidence of poor load factors.
You don't understand what a dog's breakfast flying to Newark really is.
I routinely see upwards of 4 hour delays for flights into and out of Newark from Pearson. These long delays cause cancellations and customers get moved around to other flights and sometimes even other carriers depending on the situation. Therefore, I have seen many flights enroute to Newark departing EMPTY because their customers were already accommodated elsewhere.
This is a relevant fact for any airport that routinely experiences long delays. I would consider Newark the WORST airport for delays from Pearson.
If any blog readers are ever considering flying to Newark - regardless of the carrier, I highly recommend you fly prior to NOON to avoid getting stuck.
I can't explain why Porter has delays from Montreal other than weather or maintenance but Newark is another issue all together.
By the way, If Porter were to land on Runway 08 at 11:01PM- flying past Ontario Place on the approach, how disruptive is this landing compared to one that approaches near the Hearn Stack for Runway 26. Be honest now...
I'm interested if the runway used for landing makes any difference at all.
If it does make a difference, shouldn't efforts focus on trying to get Porter to use a "less" disruptive runway whenever possible. We do that at Pearson every night - we have dedicated night time runways from Midnight til 0630AM.
Just a thought.
Take Care!
Joe
PS - Hey skywatcher, if you want a tour of the Pearson Control Tower let me know since anyone with that handle should love planes...
