It doesn't seem to matter, in my neighbourhood of Bathurst Quay, whether planes approach from the east or the west. What gets us, especially, is the roar when the planes touch down on the runway. East or west approach, the planes still disturb my sleep. (I have to go to bed earlier than I used to because the first plane wakes me up at 6:45 a.m., if minor engine testing hasn't wakened me beforehand.) The noise also reverberates off the Canada Malting complex and other buildings.

Thanks for thinking about sound amelioration, though.
