Although I AM in favour of reclaiming the waterfront, and therefore closing the island airport, it was for that same reason, i.e. concern about our image in the court of public opinion, that I responded the way I did to the February 13th "Heartbreak" post after the Buffalo crash -- because I believed, rightly or wrongly, that that particular comment was insensitive. (My response at the time never got posted for some reason.) Accidents do, and will happen, regardless of the type of aircraft, regardless of location - that's why we call them accidents, and in addition to pointing out that the crashed craft was a Q400, I personally didn't like the ending "We weep". I'm not a native Anglo, so I may have gotten this wrong, but it struck me as inappropriate.
