Defending the Turboprops

O.K.
Now that we have the entire waterfront running for cover whenever a turboprop goes by - lets add some relevant balance to this equation.
Air Canada Jazz has been flying Dash 8 100s and 300s for around 20 years to very balmy destinations like Sudbury, Timmins, North Bay, Sault St. Marie, Kingston, as well as New York State and Ohio. They have not lost a Turboprop due to icing or any other reason while flying in regions that experience icing.

I cannot comment on crew training methods at Colgan but your cited articles show their standards as twice the FAA minimum requirement for pilots.

Also, re-listing all of the Q400 issues that have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with icing makes me think this was more of a fear-mongering exercise. Why not list all of the safe take-offs and landings of Q400's since their introduction so that readers can compare the length of the 2 lists?
Take Care!
Joe
