Comment on the bridge
Oh brother, here we go again. Mr. Ball [19 Feb on “Safety”] trots out the tired and long discredited and frankly stupid rationale for a bridge. He rails about “irresponsible politics” as it regards “the fact that there is no bridge between the Island and the mainland”. A “life and death” matter and “ridiculous” he rants. The man misses the point. The fact that the airport is there at all, cheek by jowl to a densely populated waterfront and accordingly a flagrant safety hazard, is “irresponsible politics”. A bridge to nowhere is hardly going to change that.
