TPA Chair Replies to Brian Iler and Others

Mr Iler

As discussed, I feel you have twisted my words in your post.

There is no question in my mind that the legal mandate of elected officials is based upon winning elections, not by how large the margin of victory is, or by how many people participate in the election in question.

I was simply making the point that it was ironic to call ~600,000 TCCA travellers per year "a few", as Gabrielle David in an earlier post, considering it takes 7,800 citizens to elect public officials. The very officials who try to leave the impression that the entire City is against the TCCA and wants it to be closed down, a view which is not supported by recent polling data or the daily passenger traffic.

It is unfortunate that my experience is such that this will have to be my last participation in your forum.

Mark McQueen, Chair and Director of the Toronto Port Authority
