Comment from Adam Vaughan

I may have only received 7000 or so votes, but the second place candidate got 5000 votes and she was as opposed to the TPA and it airy fairy plans as I was. That means close to 85% of the ward voted for opponents of the island airport.... but what the 3rd and 4th place candidates also opposed the island airport.... in fact only one candidate dared to support an industrialized vision of the waterfront full of pollution and noise.

That one candidate, a Conservative received about 100 votes. Ironically, even that one candidate supported the concept of disbanded the TPA and returning control of the harbour to the city.

I have a mandate. The ward has spoken. My question to the TPA is simple.

Where does your mandate come from, and how are you held to account by taxpayers and citizens as a public body?
