Dear Councillors Adam Vaughan and Pam McConnell

I am writting to express my utter disgust at the operations of the Toronto Port Authority.  Why does the city not terminate the lease of the TPA under the Tripartite Agreement?  The TPA regularly violates the terms of its lease by having Porter's Q400s arrive after curfew.  Noise violations occur on many occasions.  The smell of aviation fuel drifts along the waterfront all day and night.  The sounds of gunfire and flares ring out at all times prior to flights landing or taking off to scare wildlife off the runway.  It's more like "Good Morning Vietnam!"

I have already written to Mayor Miller and asked him to live up to his end of the bargain and do the right thing in regard to the TPA.  He needs to know that we residents of Harbourfront are sick and tired of the lack of leadership and the lack of follow-through exibited by him on this matter.  The mayor promotes a livable green city (the article in Vanity Fair's Green Issue), how does the stinking, noisy airport fit into a livable green Harbourfront?

The TPA owes 45 million dollars in tax to the city.  Do you think if I don't pay my taxes to the city they would sit around and not let me pay?... I don't think so!

It's enough now.  The city is letting the TPA do whatever it likes, since the city is party to signing the Tripartite Agreement.  The city can terminate the lease of the TPA for its many violations and it should.
