April 11, Low Passenger Numbers Continue for Porter

April 11

Every Friday demonstration is different.  On April 11th there were four of us: Ellen, Maya, Rick and David.  But what seems to be constant is that Porter Airlines has few passengers.

There are about 10 flights that supposedly come and go when we do our picket from 5:30 to 7:30.  The busiest flight, at about 6:15 only had 28 passengers.  The others had much less.  This is on a Friday night, one of the busiest days of travel in the week.  Every day Porter has big advertisements in the Toronto passengers but they do not seem to be delivering customers.

All of this is creating an enormous amount of air pollution.  There were about 30 taxis in the cueing lanes when we were there last Friday.  They sit waiting, many idling their engines.  There are so few passengers and so much pollution from all the busses,  taxis, cars, trucks, ferries and planes.  It doesn't make sense on any level.
